Spring Bracket Drawing

The IHSA held the Spring Bracket drawing in Bloomington on April 15. Here are how the quarterfinals will line up in May for the 2011 state tournament:

BOYS

Game 1: UIC Sectional vs Barrington Sectional

Game 2: Vernon Hills Sectional vs GBN Sectional

Game 3: Fenwick Sectional vs Lyons Sectional

Game 4: LWN Sectional vs Neuqua Sectional

GIRLS

Game 1: LWN Sectional vs Fenwick Sectional

Game 2: Lyons Sectional vs Barrington Sectional

Game 3: Vernon Hills Sectional vs Neuqua Sectional

Game 4: UIC Sectional vs GBN Sectional

To avoid any confusion, here is how everything works. The IHSA does a blind draw to determine the pairings for the state tournament. The first team drawn is placed on the first position of an eight-team bracket, and every team drawn after that fills the next spot in the bracket.

In the above listing, the winner of Game 1 will play the winner of Game 2 in the state semifinals, while the winner of Game 3 plays the winner of Game 4 in the second semifinal game.

In late March, the IHSA determined which teams will play in each sectional, and each sectional's seeds will be decided on Thursday, April 21.
