By Aaron Brown
Here is a closer look at what transpired over the weekend at several
different girls' tournaments in Week 2:
Bremen

The Red
Jaguars knocked off Marian 11-9 in the title game of their own tournament
and finished with a 3-0 record after a first round win over Stagg and a
semifinal victory over Richards. Emma Martinus scored 15 goals to help
Bremen stay perfect at their event for the second straight year.
Richards topped Hinsdale South 10-6 in the third place
game, Bradley defeated Morton 11-6 for fifth place, and Stagg beat Argo
18-12 in the seventh place game.
GBS Tournament
Glenbrook South earned a surprise 7-4 win over Hersey to win their own
tournament on Saturday. The Titans also defeated Elk Grove and Palatine to
finish the day with a 3-0 record.
Hersey won their other two games to finish in second place, while Elk Grove
fended off Palatine 16-9 to claim third place.
Lockport Tournament
The four-team Lockport Tournament produced a
few surprises, as McAuley, Neuqua, and St Ignatius each finished with a 2-1
record on Saturday. Neuqua surprised McAuley for the second straight year with
an 8-7 win. McAuley then beat St Ignatius 7-6 after losing to the Wolfpack
earlier in the week. To complete the circle, St Ignatius beat Neuqua 9-6.
So...let's call it a three-way tie for first place.
Naperville
Central Tournament
The Redhawks' earned solid wins over two Top 10
teams on Saturday to win their own event; they held off #5 Mundelein 5-4 in the
early game on Saturday morning and finished the day with a 9-5 victory over
Homewood-Flossmoor. Abbey Kerth scored 9 goals and goalie Julia Campbell allowed
just 3 goals per game. The Redhawks also beat Oak Park on Saturday.
H-F went 2-1 to finish in second place, while Mundelein
topped Naperville North 10-3 in the third place game. Oak Park beat York 9-2 in
the fifth place game.
STC North
Tournament
Andrew's defense helped them finish the STC North Tourney with a 3-0 mark, as
they gave up only 11 goals in wins over the hosts, Hoffman, and Conant. Leah
McCarthy scored 5 times in the team's 15-5 title game win over Conant.
The Cougars went 2-1 to finish in second place, while Lake Forest beat Hoffman
12-7 behind a 6-goal performance by Emily Nowlin. The hosts held off Buffalo
