Week 5
The
following is a summary of what took place during the fifth week of the
season. This is not a complete list and we can only include a few people
in this summary, but the purpose is to recognize a few of the best
performances from each week.

Biggest Impact
BOYS
Kenny Witt (Lincoln-Way North)
Witt scored the game-winning goal in LWN's 10-9 victory over Lincoln-Way
East on Tuesday night.
Erik Niemeier (Sandburg)
Niemeier helped the Eagles finish with a 7-0 record during Week 5,
totaling 23 goals throughout the week and drawing 17 ejections at the
Naperville North Tournament.
Luke Dobben/Shay Banton (H-F)
The Vikings' duo combined to score 33 goals and led H-F to the St Patrick
Tournament title with wins over Brother Rice, Evanston, LWE, and Loyola.

GIRLS
Stephanie Fernandez (St Ignatius)
Fernandez was the leading scorer at the Fenwick Tourney, scoring 18 goals
to help lift St Ignatius to a 3-1 record at the event.
Cara Borkovec/Gena Wendt (Fenwick)
Borkovec and Wendt combined to score 13 goals to help Fenwick win their
own tournament with wins over Loyola,
Mundelein, H-F,
and St Thomas.

Top Goalie Performances
BOYS
Jacob Bodnar (H-F)
Bodnar allowed just 15 goals as the Vikings won the St Patrick Tournament
by beating Brother Rice, Evanston, Loyola, and LWE.
GIRLS
Mackenzie Bonk (Fenwick)
Bonk spearheaded a Friars' defense that allowed just 17 goals in four
games at their own tournament, which they won with wins over H-F, Loyola,
Mundelein, and St Thomas.

BOYS
Loyola Stuns Ignatius
The Ramblers put an exclamation point on their
midseason surge with an 11-10 win over #3 St Ignatius on Wednesday.
GIRLS
Andrew Upsets Sandburg
Kelly Baumgartner and Leah McCarthy helped lead Andrew
to an 11-10 comeback win over #11 Sandburg this week. The T-Bolts trailed
7-5 in the second half before making a late run to earn the upset over the
Eagles.
McAuley Defeats Lyons at Fenwick Tournament
The Mighty Macs handed Lyons their first loss since
2009 in a 7-6 thriller in the first game of the day on Saturday at the
Fenwick Tournament.
News and Notes
Loaded Tournament Schedule
There were nine tournaments on the docket last weekend,
but Week 6 sees thirteen events on the calendar for this coming Friday and
Saturday.
Teams Head Elsewhere For Competition
Fenwick and Stagg both travel to Missouri to play in
the DeSmet Tournament on the boys' side, while Naperville Central's girls
will look to stay perfect in 2011 when they head to Michigan to play in
the Jenison Tournament.
