BOYS
Alex Birkle
(McHenry)
The McHenry goalie stopped 38 shots, including a penalty shot save in a
one-goal win over Latin, to help the Warriors win the Stevenson Tournament
on Saturday. Birkle also earned victories over the hosts and Oak Park at
the event.
Brian Cavanaugh
(Lockport)
Cavanaugh racked up 16 goals in wins over LWN, LWW, and St Rita during
Week 5, helping the Porters improve to 10-4 on the season.
Logan Gizel/Sang M Han
(Hoffman)
Gizel recorded 27 saves and earned one shutout and Han scored 10 times to
lead Hoffman to the Hersey Tournament title. Han's performance included a
4-goal effort in an 8-2 final game win over Maine East.
GIRLS
Alexis Jones (Mundelein)
Jones recorded 15 times on Saturday at the Fenwick Tourney, leading the
Mustangs to wins over New Trier and Stevenson and a draw against St
Thomas. She totaled 17 goals for the entire event.
Brittany Wallace/Evan Swenson (Loyola)
Wallace and Swenson combined to score 24 goals over the weekend at
Fenwick, where the Ramblers beat McAuley and earned draws against both
Lyons and New Trier.
Dana Andrea
(Vernon Hills)
Andrea recorded 11 goals to lead the Cougars to wins over Barrington and
Lake Forest at the Barrington Tournament, which they won with a 2-1
record.
Meg Dix
(Prospect)
Dix scored 8 times in Prospect's 17-9 triumph over Conant and led the
Knights with 4 goals in a 12-8 win over Buffalo Grove during Week 5.
Megan Nerud
(Naperville North)
Nerud scored 14 goals to help lead Naperville North to the Hinsdale
Central Tournament title, which included wins over the hosts, Lincoln-Way
North, and STC East.
Mia Palladino
(Metea Valley)
Palladino scored 5 goals to lead the Warriors to an 8-6 win over STC North
on Tuesday and tallied 4 scores in an 8-7 victory over Hinsdale Central on
Thursday night.
Rebecca Mathews
(H-F)
Mathews totaled 17 goals at the Fenwick Tournament and helped the Vikings
earn key wins over Evanston and St Ignatius.
Stephanie Fernandez
(St Ignatius)
Fernandez scored 18 times at the Fenwick Tournament, ending the event as
the leading goalscorer and helping the Wolfpack earn wins over Evanston,
Stevenson, and
St Thomas.
