BOYS
Drew Stoffel (Stagg)
Stoffel helped lead the Chargers to their own
tournament title, scoring 15 total goals in wins over R-B, Stagg, STC
North, and Young. He tallied 4 goals in a 13-10 title game win over Young.
Eduardo Chavez (Curie)
Chavez recorded 19 goals at the Palatine Tournament
over the weekend, helping the Condors to a second place finish in a
nine-team field filled with Top 25 teams. Curie finished 2-1-1 with wins
over Loyola and Palatine, a draw with H-F, and a loss to St Ignatius in a
game that determined the eventual tournament winner.
Kamil Mulawa (Palatine)
Mulawa racked up 22 goals this week to help Palatine
start the season off with a 4-1 record. That included an highly impressive
3-1 record at their own tourney, with wins over Latin, McHenry, and
Mundelein. He drew a penalty and converted the shot in the final minute of
the team's 11-10 win over McHenry and totaled 4 scores in the game. He
also scored 8 goals and added 3 assists earlier in the week in an 18-4 win
over Prospect.
Notie Moyer (Highland Park/Deerfield)
Moyer racked up 15 goals to lead Highland
Park/Deerfield to three tournament wins over Barrington, Elk Grove, and
Glenbrook North en route to their own tournament title. He scored 7 goals
in the team's 11-5 title game victory over Glenbrook North.
Shay Banton (H-F)
Banton recorded 14 goals at the Palatine Tournament
this weekend, helping the Vikings finish in a tie for second play in the
nine-team field. He scored the game-tying goal at the buzzer in an 11-11
draw with Curie, totaled 4 scores in a 16-14 win over Latin, and poured in
5 goals in the team's 13-5 victory over New Trier. He also registered 6
goals in a 19-2 win over Hinsdale South earlier in the week.
GIRLS
Abbey Kerth (Naperville Central)
Kerth totaled 15 goals as Naperville Central went 4-0 with
wins over Metea Valley, Naperville North, Neuqua Valley, and Waubonsie
Valley en route to winning the
Naperville Tournament on Saturday. She also tallied 8 goals in the
Redhawks' 15-3 win over Andrew earlier in the week.
Alison Coogan/Katie Hunt (Oak Park)
The Huskies' duo combined to score 6 goals in a 9-8
title game win over Marian at the Northside Tournament. They also helped
OPRF earn wins over the hosts and York on Saturday.
Amy Martello (Marian)
Martello scored 18 goals at the Northside Tournament on Saturday, helping
the Spartans to a second place finish at the event.
She scored three straight goals in the fourth quarter
of her team's 10-9 comeback win over Hinsdale South, a game in which she
totaled 6 goals.
Martello recorded 5 goals in a 7-5 win over
Northside, tallied 3 goals in Marian's 10-4 win
over York, and added 4 goals in a narrow 9-8 loss to Oak Park.
Anna Horstkotte (New Trier)
Horstkotte tallied 26 goals for the Trevians this week
as the team started their 2011 campaign with a 4-1 record. At their own
tournament on Saturday, she scored 6 goals in an 11-4 win over Wheeling,
added 5 scores in the Trevians' 8-4 win over Evanston, and put in 3 goals
in an 11-5 victory over St Viator. She also scored 5 times in a narrow
11-10 loss to Sandburg.
Earlier in the week, she recorded 7 goals in an 18-6
win over Glenbrook North.
Cassidy O'Connell (Lane)
O'Connell recorded 14 goals in wins over Conant, Lake
Forest, and STC East to help the Indians finish with a perfect record at
the Conant Tournament on Saturday.
Sam Matuszewski (Fremd)
Matuszewski led the Vikings with 9 goals at the Loyola Tournament on
Saturday, including 3 scores in Fremd's overtime victory over Loyola.
Fremd also beat Hersey and R-B to finish the tournament with a 3-0 record.
She also recorded 5
goals in Fremd's 12-3 victory over St Viator on Wednesday.
