(Fenwick)
The Friars' goalie stopped two shots in a 12-11 shootout
win against Oak Park on Saturday, helping Fenwick beat the Huskies for the
second straight week. He also made 4 straight saves in a second quarter run
that helped the Friars take a 5-2 lead at halftime. He also made two key
saves in the final two minutes of regulation and totaled 10 saves in the
victory.
Francisco also helped Fenwick claim the Stevenson
Tournament title over the weekend, as the team went 4-0 with wins over
Naperville Central, Stevenson, and Palatine in addition to the title game
win over Oak Park. He allowed only 3 goals in a 17-3 win over Stevenson and
only 5 goals in a 10-5 victory over Palatine.
Mark Menis (Naperville Central)
The Redhawks' senior led the team in scoring at the
Stevenson Tournament over the weekend, helping them earn a third place
finish and a 3-1 record against several of the top teams in the state. He
totaled 13 goals in the four game event, including 4 scores in a 10-6
victory over Brother Rice in the tournament's third-place game.
Menis also scored 4 times in a 17-5 win over Palatine,
put in 2 scores in a 16-1 triumph over Stevenson, and added 3 scores in a
narrow 8-7 loss to Fenwick.
Menis also scored 4 goals in a 17-9 victory over H-F
earlier in the week.

Erisa
Apantaku/Sophia Palmer
(New Trier)
Apantaku scored a key goal in the fourth quarter against
Mundelein and Palmer scored the game-winner in overtime as the Trevians beat
the Mustangs 6-5 in extra time on Tuesday night. Both Apantaku and Palmer
scored 2 times in the victory over the ninth-ranked Mustangs.
The next night, Apantaku totaled 3 goals and Palmer added
2 scores as New Trier defeated Latin 8-3. The win helped the Trevians
improve to 16-8 on the season as they gear up for the Central Suburban
League Tournament on Friday.
Stephanie Ovalle (Fenwick)
Ovalle recorded 17 goals at the Rockford Tournament in
Michiagn over the weekend, helping lead the Friars to a 3-1 mark at the
event and a third-place finish.
She tallied 5 goals in a Saturday morning win over East
Kentwood, added 6 scores in a victory over Zeeland that moved Fenwick into
the third-place game, and recorded 3 scores to help the Friars knock off Ann
Arbor Pioneer to secure a third-place finish.
The Friars improved to 20-6 in 2010 at the end of the
event.
