Galainena recorded 13 goals in wins over H-F, St Viator,
and Waubonsie to help lift the Romans claim their own tournament title on
Saturday. He also scored 7 times in a win over Lane earlier in the week,
helping Latin improve to 17-2 on the season.

at the tournament, #10 H-F and #12 Waubonsie Valley. He also chipped in with

GIRLS
Kelsey
Martiniak (Lincoln-Way Central)
Martiniak made 18 saves in a 12-2 win over Lincoln-Way
East on Thursday night, making several key blocks that allowed the Knights
to pull away from their conference rivals and earn a big win.
Martiniak then helped the Knights claim the St Viator
Tournament over the weekend, spearheading a defense that held all opponents
to 7 goals or less per game.
She averaged a total of 13 saves in five games during the
sixth week of the season, helping the Knights move to 16-3 on the season.
Sam Virella (Naperville Central)
At the Jenison Tournament in Michigan over the weekend,
Virella allowed only 15 goals in four games, helping the Redhawks achieve a
perfect 4-0 record across state lines.
With less than 3 goals allowed per game, Virella helped
make the Redhawks a tough team to score on in Michigan. In the title game of
the tournament, Virella saved 12 shots against Ann Arbor Pioneer and allowed
only 2 goals in Central's 11-2 victory. She recorded a total of 30 saves in
the four-game tourney, which included wins over Rockford, Hudsonville,
and East Kentwood.
Naperville Central improved to 18-0 on the season after
six weeks of play, and Virella's defensive presence has been a major factor
in the team's success.
