Luke O'Connell/Tommy Poulos

#1 Oak Park has gotten off to a 6-0 start, mainly
based on the offensive production of both Luke O'Connell and Tommy Poulos. The
duo led the Huskies to wins over both Fenwick and Naperville Central over the
weekend,
In Thursday's 25-4 victory over Stevenson, Poulos led all
scorers with 6 goals and O'Connell was among four players that totaled 3 scores
for the Huskies.
On Friday night, Oak Park outlasted Naperville Central 13-12,
as O'Connell (4 goals) scored the decisive goal on a lob shot from the left side
late in the game. Poulos also scored 4 times in the win.
In Saturday's first game, both O'Connell and Poulos scored 4
goals in a 15-4 victory over St Ignatius. Later in the day, Oak Park beat
Fenwick 16-10 behind a 5-goal performance from Poulos and 3 scores by O'Connell.
GIRLS
Claire Fleming (Naperville
Central)
Fleming's appearance in this spot is probably overdue, as the
senior has helped the Redhawks start the season with a perfect 9-0 record. This
weekend, she helped Central win their second straight tournament, earning wins
over H-F, Mundelein, and Oak Park en route to the tourney title.
Fleming scored 4 times in Saturday's tournament-opening 11-0
shutout win over Oak Park. She contributed 2 goals in a narrow 7-5 victory over
Mundelein to help NC advance to the title game. In the championship match,
Fleming led all scorers with 5 goals as the Redhawks held off H-F 11-7.
Earlier in the week, Fleming scored 3 goals in a 16-3 win
over Richards. Last weekend, she also helped Central earn three wins over
Naperville North, Neuqua, and Waubonsie.
For the season, Fleming has scored 29 goals and totaled 18
ejections drawn, 15 steals, and 8 assists.
