Lyons
Continues To Seek Perfection
By Aaron Brown
Lyons Township will put their perfect season to the
test one more time in the sectional finals at their own pool against
Mother McAuley on Saturday afternoon at 1:15pm.
The Lions have earned two wins over the Macs earlier
this season. They first secured a 14-4 decision in their first meeting in
Western Springs on March 30, then beat them a second time at the Fenwick
Tournament by a 12-3 margin.
McAuley has made their usual late season push towards
the state tournament, so LT will likely need to be ready for a much closer
contest in the third meeting between the two teams. And with a state
tournament berth on the line, anything can happen when these two
high-quality sides meet on Saturday.
Questions to ponder concerning tomorrow's girls' games:
Can Fremd continue to roll through the MSL competition
in 2010 or does Barrington have enough up their sleeve to pull off a major
upset in a home game for the Fillies?
Will the New Trier defense be able to put the clamps
down on a skilled Loyola offense or will the Ramblers continue their run
through the GBS Sectional and get back to state?
H-F and Lincoln-Way Central both earned dramatic wins
on Friday; which team will have enough left over to earn a trip to
Stevenson for the state tournament next weekend?
Can Waubonsie Valley provide a greater challenge to
Naperville Central in their third meeting of the season? The Redhawks won
both contests in 2010 by 9-4 and 10-4 margin earlier in the year.
Will St Ignatius be able to repeat their performance
from earlier in the season when they beat Young 12-4, or will the Dolphins
be able to make their first IHSA state tournament appearance with a win
over the Wolfpack?
Can Mundelein make it three in a row against Stevenson
on Saturday afternoon, or will the Patriots be able to get the better of
the Mustangs in a pressure-packed sectional final game?
Does York have enough tricks up their sleeve to pull
off a major upset over #2 Fenwick? The Dukes will be geared up and ready
to go when the Friars come to Elmhurst for a 1:15pm matchup.
