Spring Bracket Drawing

The IHSA held the Spring Bracket drawing in Bloomington on April 21. Here are how the state quarterfinals will line up in May for the 2010 state tournament:

BOYS

Game 1: UIC Sectional vs Barrington Sectional

Game 2: Lyons Sectional vs York Sectional

Game 3: GBS Sectional vs Vernon Hills Sectional

Game 4: LWC Sectional vs Neuqua Valley Sectional

GIRLS

Game 1: York Sectional vs LWC Sectional

Game 2: UIC Sectional vs Barrington Sectional

Game 3: GBS Sectional vs Lyons Sectional

Game 4: Vernon Hills Sectional vs Neuqua Valley Sectional

To avoid any confusion, here is how everything works. The IHSA does a blind draw to determine the pairings for the state tournament. The first team drawn is placed on the first position of an eight-team bracket, and every team drawn after that fills the next spot in the bracket.

In the above listing, the winner of Game 1 will play the winner of Game 2 in the state semifinals, while the winner of Game 3 plays the winner of Game 4 in the second semifinal game.

In late March, the IHSA determined which teams will play in each sectional, and each sectional's seeds will be decided on Thursday, April 22.
