Chicago Public Schools to Participate in 2010
By Aaron Brown
CHICAGO,
IL -- A decision was made last week by the Chicago Public School
system to cut the sport of water polo from their budget, effective immediately. Full
details about the cuts can be found by
reading this online article from the Southtown Star.
An off-the record source informed us last
Wednesday that this decision basically meant that coaches were not going to
be paid any salaries for the upcoming season, but that most coaches were
considering continuing as volunteers in order to keep their seasons alive.
A meeting was held last Thursday to determine if
it would still be possible to continue the season as scheduled, and it was
determined that the Chicago Public School teams will participate in water
polo for the 2010 season.
Salary details and other information is not
available at this time.
No further decision has been made for the following year.
