Week 7
The
following is a summary of what took place during the seventh week of the
season. This is not a complete list and we can only include a few people
in this summary, but the purpose is to recognize a few of the best
performances from each week.
Players To Watch
Boys - Ed
Martin (Prospect)
Martin scored a key go-ahead goal in a 13-10 win over Wheeling, scoring 4
total goals in the victory.
Boys - Ryan McMahon (St Rita)
McMahon totaled 5 goals in the Mustangs 14-13 overtime win over R-B.
Girls - Allie
Fisher (Andrew)
The first-year starter has led the team in steals and totaled over 20
goals and helped the T-Bolts earn wins over LWN, LWW, and Waubonsie this
past week.
Girls -
Lisa Mazur (Prospect)
Mazur totaled 4 scores in Prospect's 11-6 victory over Buffalo Grove on
Thursday.
Biggest Impact
Boys - Luke
Dobben (Homewood-Flossmoor)
Dobben recorded the game-winning goal in overtime to help lift H-F to a
15-14 victory over Sandburg.
Boys - Matt
Stelnicki (Brother Rice)
Stelnicki scored a key goal in the final minute to help Brother Rice hold
off Loyola 11-9 on Saturday.
Girls - Ellis
O'Connor (Evanston)
O'Connor scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of Evanston's
6-5 victory over New Trier to take over the top spot in the CSL.
Girls -
Emma McKernin (Fenwick)
McKernin scored the game-winning goal in sudden death overtime in
Fenwick's 10-9 win over Naperville Central.
Top Goalie Performances
Boys - Spencer
Young (New Trier)
Young made 10 saves, allowed only 3 goals, and scored a goal in one half
of play as New Trier beat Evanston 14-9.
Girls - Claire
Strunk (Evanston)
Strunk recorded 15 saves in wins over Jenison and Sandburg over the
weekend and totaled 20 saves in an 8-3 win over Latin. She also stopped 16
shots in a 6-5 win over New Trier.

Surprises
Boys - Fenwick
The Friars beat the top two teams in the state on Saturday, announcing
that their reign at the top of the state may not be over yet in 2010.
Girls - Evanston
The Wildkits earned wins over Latin, New Trier, and Sandburg this week to
become a strong contender for the GBS Sectional title.
News and Notes
There are just two weeks left in the regular season,
with next week primarily devoted to conference tournaments.
