Week 6
The
following is a summary of what took place during the sixth week of the
season. This is not a complete list and we can only include a few people
in this summary, but the purpose is to recognize a few of the best
performances from each week.

Preusse scored 5 times to lead the North Stars to a 14-13
victory over Prospect at the Sandburg Tournament.

Howenstein scored 4 goals in the Redhawks' 22-1 win over
Neuqua.
Boys - Ryan
Rys (Lincoln-Way East)
Rys recorded 5 goals and 3 assists in LWE's 13-8 win over Conant.
Girls - Emily
Asai (Young)
Asai scored 2 big goals in the Dolphins' 4-3 victory over Oak Park.

Hillary Veselik (Hinsdale South)
Veselik scored all 9 of her team's goals in a 9-7 win over
STC East.

AJ Galainena (Latin)
Recorded 13 goals over the weekend to lead the Romans to their own
tournament title with wins over H-F, St Viator, and Waubonsie.

Roberts (Lincoln-Way North)
Roberts totaled 10 scores in a 16-8 upset win over Stagg on Tuesday.

Karen Lowry (Stevenson)
Scored an OT game-winner and 7 total goals in a 9-8 win over Young.
Girls - Meg
Dix (Prospect)
The Knights' top scorer connected on the game-winning goal
in sudden death overtime to beat Hersey 13-12.
Girls - Megan
Shover (St Viator)
Shover scored the game-winning goal in Viator's 4-3 win over Marian.

Boys - Robbie
O'Brien (Stevenson)
The Patriots' goaltender made 18 saves in an 11-8 win over
Schaumburg.
Girls - Devin
Green (Marian)
Green made 40 blocks, stopped 3 penalty shots, and added 8 steals at the
St Ignatius Tournament against Lyons, Loyola, H-F, and GBN.
Girls - Kelsey
Martiniak (Lincoln-Way Central)
Martiniak made 18 saves and helped lead the Knights on the defensive end
in a 12-2 win over Lincoln-Way East.
Girls - Lucie
Buchanan (Conant)
The Cougars' keeper made 30 saves and helped the team
finish second at the Vernon Hills Tournament.

Surprises
Boys - St Ignatius
The Wolfpack edged the #1 team (Oak Park) at the Lyons
Tournament.
Girls - Palatine
The Pirates earned their first win of the season, beating Hoffman Estates
14-10 on Thursday.
News and Notes
The sectional seeding will be determined on Thursday
evening; once the seeds have been finalized, look for brackets and
previews for the 2010 postseason.
