BOYS
Pat Falconer
(Mundelein)
Falconer totaled 15 goals in four games and
helped lead Mundelein to a 11-6 title game win over New Trier at the Stagg
Tournament on Saturday night.
The Mustangs also earned wins over STC North, R-B, and Stagg over the weekend.
Eduardo Chavez
(Curie)
Chavez scored 9 goals in Curie's 12-10 win over Palatine over
the weekend, while also scoring another 9 times in games against Latin and St
Ignatius. The Condors' super sophomore also scored 6 goals in a 13-2 win over
Juarez and added 4 scores in a 19-6 victory over Morgan Park.
Tytus Kwiatkowski
(Glenbrook North)
Kwiatkowski totaled 28 goals in three games as GBN
beat Barrington, Rolling Meadows, and Highland Park/Deerfield to claim the
tournament title at Highland Park. He scored 12 times in the win over Highland
Park/Deerfield and 6 goals in a 9-3 victory over Barrington.
Jacob Himmel
(Latin)
Himmel scored 10 goals at the Palatine Tournament on
Saturday, including a 6-goal performance in a 13-7 victory over Curie. He also
scored 2 times in an 8-7 win over Palatine to help the Romans finish in second
place.
GIRLS
Sophia Palmer
(New Trier)
Palmer scored 8 goals to help lead the Trevians to a 3-0
record at their own tournament on Saturday afternoon. She led the team in
scoring in wins over Sandburg, GBS, and St Viator.
Sam Virella
(Naperville Central)
The Redhawks' goalie earned a shutout win over Naperville
North and allowed only 6 goals in a three-game set, which included wins over
Neuqua and Waubonsie. She also allowed only 12 goals in 5 games as NC beat
Andrew and Marian this week.
Hannah Duke
(Conant)
Duke totaled 9 goals on Saturday in wins over Lane, STC East,
and Lake Forest and also scored 6 goals to lead the Cougars past Libertyville
during the week. She scored a total of 17 goals in helping Conant start the
season with a 4-1 record.
Ana Chavez
(Lane)
Chavez scored 24 goals in the first week of the season,
helping the Indians start the season with a 3-1 mark. She scored 7 times in
Lane's 12-8 victory over Lake Forest, then accounted for all of her team's goals
in a narrow 6-5 win over STC East. She started the week by scoring 4 goals in an
11-4 win over Northside. She also scored 7 times in the Indians 11-9 loss to
Conant.
Stephanie Ovalle
(Fenwick)
Ovalle scored all 5 of Fenwick's first half goals against
Loyola on Monday night, then added another score in the second half as the
Friars defeated Loyola 9-7 on the opening night of the season.
Grace Trilla
(Lyons)
The Lions' goalie has allowed only 3 goals in the first three
games of the season, which has included key conference wins over Hinsdale South,
Oak Park, and York. She also earned a shutout in the team's 18-0 win over
Hinsdale South.
