Fenwick
The Friars improved to 14-0 in 2009 with impressive wins over
Neuqua Valley and St Ignatius in Week 5, and to be honest, it's hard to pick
just one standout performance from each game.
In the Friars' 30-4 victory over #4 Neuqua Valley,
Craig Borkovec and
Dan Barron each scored 4 goals and Brian Barron (7 assists, 4 steals), Colin
Corvino, John Osborne, and Mark Ryden all scored 3 times.
In their 17-5 win over St Ignatius,
Chris
Wendt scored 6 goals and John Osborne and Brian Barron each added 5 goals.
Fenwick heads to Florida for a tournament during Week 6.
GIRLS
Mariclaire Bresnahan (Fenwick)
Bresnahan's impressive performances have started from the
first week of the season, as she has helped the Friars achieve a 12-0 record
thus far in 2009.
On Wednesday, she limited #2 St Ignatius to just one goal
while recording a total of 17 saves.
Last weekend, she helped lift the Friars to a 4-0 record and
a title at the Mike Murphy Tournament; she recorded 46 saves in the four-game
set, including an 11-save performance in an 8-1 win over #7 Mother McAuley and a
12-save performance in a 10-2 victory over #2 St Ignatius.
She also made 12 saves and shutout #15 H-F for three quarters
in Fenwick's 15-2 victory, plus she stopped 11 shots in the Friars' 12-7 win
over #9 New Trier.
Overall, she held opponents to less than 2 goals per game at
the tournament.
Cheyenne Montijo (Stevenson)
Montijo scored the game-winning goal in overtime on Saturday
against Fremd, added the go-ahead goal in the fourth quarter of the game, and
scored 8 total goals at the Stevenson Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Patriots also earned wins over Young and Latin at their
tournament, which they finished with a 3-0 record.
Audrey Reardon (Oak Park)
Reardon scored 21 goals in three games on Saturday, leading
the Huskies to the St Charles North Tournament title.
She scored 7 goals and drew 4 ejections in a 7-5 win over
Lincoln-Way East, added 7 goals, 6 steals, and 2 ejections drawn in a 9-3
victory over Waubonsie Valley, and finished the tournament with 7 goals, 3
steals, and an assist in a 9-1 title game victory over Naperville North.
Reardon accounted for 84% of Oak Park's scoring at the
tournament.
