assists, 15 ejections drawn, and 40 steals. As a result, the Saxons started
the season with a 7-0 record, claiming the Hoffman Estates Tournament title
in the process.
Dan Vockerath
(Rolling Meadows)
Vockerath scored 6 goals in a season-opening win over
Conant, added 6 more goals in a conference victory over Prospect, then
scored 5 goals in the Mustangs' 10-8 win over GBN on
Friday night. He then added 8 scores at the Highland Park Tournament, helping
the Mustangs finish the first week of the season with a surprising 5-1
record.
GIRLS
Emily Bornhoff
(Lyons)
The Lions' goalie totaled 31 saves in three games,
allowing only 6 goals in the process, to help lift Lyons to a 3-0 record in
the opening week of the season. All three wins came against conference
foes, as the Lions beat York, Oak Park, and Hinsdale South. She allowed only
one goal in the victories over the Dukes and Hornets.
Claire Fleming (Naperville
Central)
Fleming scored 15 goals at the Neuqua Valley Tourney over
the weekend, leading the Redhawks to victories over Neuqua, Waubonsie, and
Naperville North.
She also scored 4 goals in a win over Marian Catholic and
added 3 goals in a 12-3 victory over Andrew during the opening week of the
season, as Central started the year with a 5-0 record.
