BOYS
John Barrett
(Fenwick)
Barrett recorded 14 goals over the weekend at
the Brother Rice Tournament, helping the Friars to a 4-0 record and a
tournament title after wins over St Patrick, Brother Rice, St Rita, and
Waubonsie Valley.
On Friday night against Waubonsie, Barrett led
the way on offense with 7 goals in a 15-7 win. On Saturday morning, he added
3 goals in a 12-3 victory over St Rita, then followed that with a goal and 2
assists in Fenwick's 10-1 win over St Patrick that qualified the Friars for
the title game. Barrett scored 3 goals in a 12-10 victory over Brother Rice,
increasing his total to 64 goals for the 2007 season.
Earlier in the week, Barrett also scored 6 goals
to lead Fenwick to a 17-5 win over Naperville Central.
GIRLS
Nora Kennelly
(St Ignatius)
Nora Kennelly scored 6 goals, including the
game-winner with 0:45 seconds remaining, to lead St Ignatius to their
first-ever Maroon & Gold Tournament title after a 9-7 victory over Loyola on
Saturday afternoon.
Kennelly totaled 21 goals in the tournament, as
Ignatius' went 4-0 over the weekend. The Wolfpack earned victories over
Lyons, New Trier, Waubonsie, and Loyola.
Earlier in the week, Kennelly recorded 4 goals
to lead Ignatius to an 11-2 win over Latin. She also tallied 5 goals as the
Wolfpack defeated Sandburg 13-8 on Wednesday night.
St Ignatius' improved to 15-3 on the season
after the weekend.
Kara Wilson
(Naperville Central)
Kara Wilson has helped lead Naperville Central
to a 21-2 record in 2007 as the Redhawks leading scorer, including 12 goals
this week as Central went 4-0 (with two wins coming against Top 10 teams).
Wilson started the week with a 4-goal
performance in a 9-7 win over Neuqua Valley. She also recorded 2 steals, 2
assists, and 5 ejections drawn. The following day, Wilson excelled on the
defensive end with 6 steals as the Redhawks beat Lyons 5-4. She added 4
goals, 3 steals, and an assist in Wednesday's 15-6 victory over rival
Naperville North, then finished the week with 4 goals, 2 steals, and an
assist in Central's 11-5 win over Richards.
