Anne Frigo
(Evanston) - Evanston goalie Anne Frigo was in the right place at the
right time in the final seconds of the Wildkits' 8-7 win over Sandburg.
After an ejection led to a man-up situation for the Eagles, Frigo was in
perfect position to knock down a high percentage shot with seven seconds
remaining and keep Evanston ahead by one goal. After the save, Sandburg
recovered the loose ball in front of the net, but Frigo and a swarm of
defenders forced a turnover and denied the potential game-tying score. Frigo
also came up big earlier in the period, stopping a penalty shot and making
three other crucial saves to help Evanston emerge with the win. The win was
the second of the day for Evanston, who knocked off St Viator 11-3 in the
previous game and improved to 2-1 on the season.
