Chicago, IL -- Emily Laning of Barrington and
Pam Gronkowski of Mother McAuley received IHSA All-State Academic Team
status for both their academic and athletic accomplishments in March 2007.
Of the 26 Illinois athletes selected, Laning
was the only water polo player selected. Gronowski was an Honorable
Mention recipient.
Nomination Criteria
Each
IHSA member school is eligible to nominate one male and one female
student. Nomination forms are mailed to all principals of IHSA member
schools in January.
To be
eligible for consideration for selection to the team, a student in an IHSA
member school must:
have
a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale after
the seventh semester;
have
participated in at least two IHSA-sponsored activities (athletics and/or
non-athletics) during the last two school years;
have
demonstrated outstanding citizenship during his/her high school career.
