    Week 9

 

St Patrick beat Loyola 9-5 in the first semifinal game of the Catholic League tournament on Saturday, as James Ridgeway scored 4 goals to lead the Shamrocks to the win.

 

The Friars defeated Brother Rice 20-6 in the MCAC semifinals, as Tom Parolin led all scorers with 5 goals while John Barrett added 4 scores in the win.

 

Brother Rice beat Loyola 14-9 as Sean Coghlan led the way for the Crusaders with 7 goals and Matt Joslyn added 4 scores.

 

In the title game in the Catholic League, Fenwick outlasted St Patrick 10-3, as Brian Barron, Chris Wendt, and Tom Parolin each scored 2 goals in the win for the Friars.

 

Alison Pavlik scored on a five-meter shot in the second sudden death overtime period to give Fenwick a 13-12 win over St Ignatius, then Fenwick held off McAuley 10-9 as Pavlik scored 6 goals to lead the Friars to the championship.

 

Lyons claimed the West Suburban Conference title after a 14-11 victory over Oak Park on Saturday afternoon in Elmhurst. Scott Nemecek scored 5 goals to lead the Lions in the win, while Mark Nemecek scored 4 goals and Peter Cosentino and Mike Castro each scored 2 goals for Lyons.

 

Hinsdale Central defeated Hinsdale South 9-5 in the first game, as Bree O'Daugherty and Caitlin Connor both scored 2 goals in the win for the Red Devils.

 

York beat Morton 14-5 as Karen Achtien and Theresa O'Toole each scored 3 goals in the win.

 

In the first semifinal, Lyons topped Hinsdale Central 12-6 to advance to the championship game, as Katherine Delacey scored 4 goals to lead the Lions.

 

In the championship game of the WSC tournament, Oak Park defeated Lyons 10-5, as Val Poulos, Audrey Reardon, and Megan Rigali each scored 3 goals for the Huskies in the win.

 

Mundelein beat Palatine in the tournament opener 11-5, as Siobhan Larsen scored 5 goals and Allie Fedro added 3 scores in the win for the Mustangs. Mundelein also beat Latin 9-8, as Larsen and Kristen Aucutt each tallied 3 goals. The Mustangs clinched the tournament title with an 11-6 victory over Buffalo Grove, as Larsen poured in 8 goals in the win.

 

Latin went 2-1 at the tournament to claim second place, earning wins over both Buffalo Grove and Palatine. In their 9-4 win over the Bison, Perla Almarez led the way with 4 goals and Claire Henderson added 2 scores. In their final game, they shut down Palatine 9-2, with Almarez the leading scorer with 7 goals.

 

Buffalo Grove earned one win, an 11-5 triumph over fellow MSL school Palatine. Niki Irzyk led the Bison with 4 goals in the win.

 

Evanston's 12-4 win over Glenbrook South put them one win away from the title game, as Grace Hatcher led all scorers in the win with 3 goals.

 

Maine East earned their first ever conference tournament win, a 4-3 decision over Deerfield, as Natalia Bialecki and Katie Hoglund each scored 2 goals and goalie Ariel Gazlay made 14 saves in the win.

 

Joy Corona scored 6 goals to lead the Scouts to a 10-4 victory over Conant in the final game of the regular season for both teams on Friday night.

 

Grant Wilkie scored the game-winning goal in sudden death overtime as Latin defeated Waubonsie Valley 10-9 on Thursday night.

 

Dylan O'Connell and Tommy Poulos each recorded 4 goals as Oak Park won their opening round game of the WSC Tournament over Morton 15-3 on Thursday.

 

Bill Dabrowski tallied 4 goals and Jon Lesniak added 2 goals as McHenry knocked off Conant 9-8 in nonconference action.

 

Chris Corbett scored 5 goals and added 2 assists to lead Schaumburg to an 11-5 win over St Charles East on Thursday.

 

Jimmy Palac stopped 10 shots and six different players scored for Libertyville as they beat Buffalo Grove 6-4 on Thursday night.

 

Bailey Gucinski scored with just 0:05 seconds remaining to give Waubonsie Valley a 6-5 win over Latin in on Thursday.

 

Erin Reilly scored 4 goals to help lift Lincoln-Way East past Bradley 11-5 on Thursday. Sharon Pomranky and Melissa Peyton each scored 3 goals in the win for the Griffins.

 

Sam Cody and Hannah Ciurej each scored 4 goals to lead Sandburg to a 12-8 road victory over Naperville Central on Wednesday night.

 

Siobhan Larsen recorded 5 goals and Alice Denny scored 2 times to lead the Mustangs to a 12-5 nonconference win over Schaumburg on Wednesday.

 

Max Kryzminski scored 6 goals and goalie Robert Pozdol made 10 saves to lead the Eagles to a 12-5 nonconference win over St Rita on Tuesday.

 

Mike Castro tallied 7 goals to lead Lyons to a 20-14 win over Palatine on Tuesday night.

 

Bill Dabrowski scored 8 goals to lead McHenry to a 19-3 win over Vernon Hills on Tuesday night.

 

Danny Lejeune scored 5 goals to lead Libertyville to a 10-9 upset win over New Trier on Tuesday evening.

 

Brad Kay stopped 20 shots as the Neuqua Valley defeated Barrington 15-10 on Tuesday.

 

Grant Wilkie scored 4 goals to lead Latin to a 10-5 victory over Schaumburg on Tuesday evening.

 

Val Poulos scored 5 goals as Oak Park knocked off Homewood-Flossmoor 11-3 on Tuesday.

 

Erin Reilly recorded 5 goals and Morgan Roberts made 7 saves to lead the Lincoln-Way East to an 11-6 victory over Lincoln-Way Central in the SouthWest Suburban Conference.

 

Megan Grant and Natalie Klontz each scored 3 goals to lead Northside Prep to a 9-7 win over Von Steuben in the first round of the Chicago Public League playoffs.

 

Schaumburg defeated Hinsdale South 15-7 on Monday night as Chris Corbett, Jeff Davis, and Mike Kehoe each scored 3 goals to lead the Saxons to the win.

 

Audrey Reardon scored 7 goals to lead Oak Park to a 15-5 win over Hinsdale South in the West Suburban Conference matchup on Monday evening.
